Yin Yoga & Meditation

Description

Join us for a soothing, restorative 6-week Yin Yoga and Meditation series designed to help you relax, recharge, and find balance. Registration is required - register by contacting the Auburn Public Library. Rooted in the wisdom traditions of Taoism, Buddhism, and Yoga Nidra, this series offers a gentle yet deeply effective practice that brings focus to the connective tissues — such as bone, tendons, ligaments, and fascia — rather than the muscles. Through long, supported holds in each posture, you’ll help nourish and hydrate these tissues, improving flexibility and encouraging the free flow of energy (also known as Qi or prana) throughout your body. Each week, we’ll explore simple yet powerful postures, combined with breathwork (pranayama) and meditation practices to help bring your mind, body, and energy into alignment. The practice is intentionally slow-paced and calming, with an emphasis on cultivating stillness and presence. While we won’t be building heat through intense movement, you’ll leave each session feeling deeply restored, grounded, and centered. Classes will last 60 minutes, and we’ll incorporate props to support each posture and ensure comfort. You’ll need to bring your own yoga mat, two blocks, and a blanket; bolsters and straps will be provided. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to stretch and move with ease, and be sure to bring extra layers (like socks and a sweater) in case you get chilly. An eye pillow for your final relaxation is a lovely addition, though not required. This series is open to all levels, and no prior yoga experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to relax and restore. Free. Registration required.
