Addressing Compassion Fatigue & Burnout

Description

Compassion Fatigue and Burnout are states of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. They occur when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands … and can leave you feeling devoid of motivation and beyond caring. In this session, participants will identify specific signs of Compassion Fatigue and Burnout and explore the role that connection (to self, to others, and to team) can make in recharging their energy reserves. 

Learning Objectives: In this session, participants will: Identify the signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue (CF) and Burnout Use a self-assessment to identify the impact of CF and Burnout Explore a variety of wellbeing skills to reconnect and recharge oneself 

Intended Audience: All nonprofit staff and volunteers.

About the Presenter,  Mary Veerkamp, Ph.D., PCC, is a Professional Certified Coach, who, prior to completing her coach training through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), spent nearly a decade researching and consulting with school teams in the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model. 

Mary is passionate about creating space for clients to see possibilities and imagine shifts that meet human and organizational needs. She brings a foundational background in behavioral science, coupled with evidence-based practices in mindfulness, self-compassion, and intentional cultivation of values-aligned living to her coaching work to catalyze meaningful, lasting change so that clients may live more joyfully, authentically, and confidently.
