About
Androscoggin Gleaners was founded in 2017 to be a place for the community to support local growers, as well as move toward increasing food access for all. We work to reduce food insecurity and food waste in Androscoggin county through harvest of excess food from local farms and re-distribution to emergency food providers and other food access points where people live and gather. We are a collaborative effort led by volunteers from St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, Healthy Androscoggin, Lewiston Housing Authority, UMaine Cooperative Extension, and many others. We are a proud member of the Maine Gleaning Network through which we work with with neighboring counties for gleaning trips and other events.
