Midcoast Symphony Orchestra
- Performing Arts
The Midcoast Symphony Orchestra began as a small chamber group in 1990. Over the years, the group added more instruments and today has more than 75 members. It performs a full range of orchestral music from the classical to modern periods, with four regular concerts each season as the "resident orchestra" of the Gendron Franco Center in Lewiston.
A community-based organization, the MSO draws players and audiences from south of Portland to Rockland along the coast, and inland from Augusta to the Lewiston-Auburn area. Its members all volunteer their time to practice and perform. Under the leadership of Rohan Smith, Conductor and Music Director since 2003-2004, its reputation attracts ever more professional-caliber musicians and award-winning guest artists.
Our growth is enabled by the operational and financial support of many individuals, businesses, and foundations.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings and auditions are open for new members, especially string players.
