PREDATORS: THE BALANCE OF NATURE
On Thursday, February 23rd at 2:00PM, join the Lewiston Public Library, Chewonki, and the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission for an in-person presentation on predators and their role in nature. This free, public program, sponsored by the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission, will take place in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library. This program is recommended for ages 8 and up and no registration is required. This event will include live animals, activities, and discuss predators in the context of the food web, natural cycles, and habitat loss. We will also go over some of the animal processes that happen locally in the Lake Auburn Watershed. Live animals include a turtle, snake, and an owl or opossum. Chewonki is a school, camp and environmental education organization based in Wiscasset, Maine, that inspires transformative growth, teaches appreciation and stewardship of the natural world, and challenges people to build thriving, sustainable communities throughout their lives. Chewonki is a 501(c) non-profit organization. The Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission is an interlocal board that has the responsibility to maintain the high water quality of Lake Auburn through conservation, watershed management, and education.?Lake Auburn provides safe drinking water to over 41,000 people in the Lewiston and Auburn community.
