Museum L-A Celebrates #GivingTuesday
This #GivingTuesday, Museum L-A will celebrate giving by raising the funds to create a School Field Trip Scholarship Program for 2019.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
Museum L-A is located in a historic textile mill in Lewiston, Maine. Its mission is to connect generations and cultures, foster a spirit of discovery and human ingenuity, and help people experience the rich history and heritage of work, the arts and community. Museum field trips are interactive and can accommodate any age range and a wide variety of subjects to supplement the school curriculum. Working closely with teachers, our staff focuses on topics that may include: child labor, immigration, simple machines, invention/innovation, weaving/textiles, environmental history, or learning with historic objects.
Museum L-A invites people to help with the School Field Trip Scholarship Program. To make a donation, please visit www.museumla.org and look for the #GivingTuesday link. You can also contact Kathy Becvar at 207-333-3881 or kbecvar@museumla.org.
Donations will be directly used to pay for students from local schools to visit Museum L-A. To receive the scholarship, interested schools will complete a short application. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the scholarship funds will be distributed until it is gone. Our standard field trip rate is $4 per student. Our goal for #GivingTuesday is to raise $2,000 which would pay for up to 500 students to visit Museum L-A throughout 2019.
