Midcoast Symphony Orchestra “Favorite Music for All Ages”

The Midcoast Symphony Orchestra (MSO), conducted by Rohan Smith, presents “Favorite Music for All Ages” a variety of light-hearted music that will appeal to young audience members as well adults. Highlights of the program include Edvard Grieg’s crowd-pleasing Piano Concert performed by Mesa Schubeck, a Blue Hill native and winner of MSO’s Judith Elser Concerto Competition. With Denise Shannon as narrator our own Douglas Ertman will perform “Tubby the Tuba”, a fable about a tuba and a bullfrog that that both introduces instruments of the orchestra and illustrates the importance of self-esteem. MSO’s “Conduct the Orchestra” winner Joel Preston will lead a fun rendition of “Yankee Doodle,” arranged by 20th century composer Morton Gould. As an additional highlight two talented young fiddlers have agreed to provide entertainment during intermission. Adult tickets are $24.50 in advance (including fee), and $25 at the door if space is available. Admission for ages 18 and under and for college students with ID is always free. A limited number of free tickets are available for adults accompanying children to the concert on a one per family, and first come first served basis. Complete concert and ticket information, including the free ticket offer, is at https://midcoastsymphony.org. Audiences are encouraged to purchase tickets 24 hours in advance at https://midcoastsymphony.org/tickets/ or by calling the box office at (207) 481-0790. “Short Season” tickets are still available for the remainder of the season. This concert will be held at the beautiful Franco Center in Lewiston on Saturday, January 14 at 7:00pm. All MSO musicians and staff members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Musicians will wear masks except while they're playing wind instruments. We recommend but do not require audience members to wear masks while they are inside our performance venues.
