This panel will address and provide practical approaches to attracting and retaining employees—clearly a topic of discussion and need for virtually every Maine business. This will be an open discussion about effective recruitment strategies and employee retention. Please bring your strategies to share with the group and learn from your peers!
Cindy Letourneau is an SPHR & SHRM-SCP certified human resources professional with over 25 years of combined experience in Human Resource Management and Employee Safety. She is a Senior HR Business Partner for St. Mary’s Health System in Lewiston. Cindy earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maine, as well as a Certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Southern Maine. She has also achieved her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM-SCP from SHRM. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Central Maine Human Resources Association (CMHRA) where she is currently Vice President and has previously served as Treasurer and Membership Chair. She is also a Board Member of the United Way of Androscoggin County and the Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board.
Cassandra Jones has more than 15 years of experience in Human Resources and Employment strategy. With her Green Belt in Lean Sigma, she brings this approach to problem solving and continuous improvement to KMA, where she will focus on talent acquisition, process improvement, and general HR consulting. Prior to joining KMA, Cassandra was Human Resources Director, Global Reference Labs and Operations, for IDEXX Laboratories. Before that, she spent nearly 12 years with GlaxoSmithKline, where she held positions as Recruitment Head, North America, Great Britain & Ireland; US HR Services Director; and Human Resources Manager, among others. Cassandra has an SPHR Certification from HRCI, SHRM-SCP certification from the Society of Human Resources Management, and Lean Management/Six Sigma-Green Belt Certification. She earned a Masters in Human Resources Management from Webster University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University in Springfield.
Mary Kozicki LaFontaine, Regional Director of the Southern CareerCenters, has over twenty-five years’ experience in the private and public sectors; prior to her current position, she managed the Lewiston CareerCenter. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Southern Maine. In addition, she teaches at USM-LAC, is President of the Central Maine Human Resources Association and serves on several other civic and business association boards. She recently served on the LA Metro Chamber of Commerce Board including one term as chair, as an Auburn City Councilor for two terms and the Auburn School Committee.
HR Thursdays: Best Practices for Businesses with Employees
HR Thursdays are presented in partnership with the LA Metro Chamber, Central Maine Human Resource Association and the Lewiston CareerCenter and offer employers resources and tools to help gain a competitive edge. Presenters will share best practices to businesses owners, HR staff and hiring managers in order to create meaningful recruitment, training, and retention strategies. HR Thursdays allow participants, whether employers of one employee or 1500, gain information needed to survive the labor shortage while giving tangible, and usable, tools and resources.
