Amy and Peter will provide an annual update on the changes and developments in employment law that occurred during a highly challenging 2021. The update will include the following topics:
Changes in Maine employment laws;
Significant state and federal employment case law;
A review of the legal issues arising from remote work; and
Managing the pandemic, and hopefully post-pandemic in 2022.
Peter Lowe, of Brann & Isaacson, provides advice and counsel to our clients on labor and employment law, education and municipal law, and corporate and public governance issues. Peter advises senior executives, superintendents, town managers, and board members on governance, investigations, fiduciary duties, freedom of access, risk management, and personnel matters. He negotiates employment contracts, non-competition agreements, and severance agreements.
Amy Dieterich, of Skelton, Taintor, & Abbot, represents individual clients and businesses in commercial disputes, family matters, employment and labor law issues, as well as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings.
HR Thursdays are presented in partnership with the LA Metro Chamber, Central Maine Human Resource Association, and the Lewiston CareerCenter and offer employers resources and tools to help gain a competitive edge. Presenters will share best practices with businesses owners, HR staff, and hiring managers in order to create meaningful recruitment, training, and retention strategies. HR Thursdays allow participants, whether employers of one employee or 1500, to gain the information needed to survive the labor shortage while giving tangible, and usable, tools and resources.
