Free Acupuncture to Help Treat Trauma In the wake of Lewiston’s ineffable losses, we understand that everyone will grieve and heal in their own way. We’re here to help, no matter where you are in the process. Every Sunday in November, L/A Community Acupuncture is offering free ear acupuncture treatments from 10am - 5pm. To help heal from crisis, we use something called the NADA protocol, which focuses exclusively on ear acupuncture. We are able to run this free crisis clinic thanks to the support of acupuncturists from all over the state of Maine. Schedule Here More about treating trauma using ear acupuncture: The NADA Protocol is a non-verbal approach to healing. Depending on the training, this protocol is also called 5NP, or 5 Needle Protocol. NADA involves the gentle placement of up to five small, sterilized disposable needles into specific sites on each ear. Patients rest quietly in a group setting for 30 minutes (in comfy chairs) allowing the treatment to take effect. NADA ear acupuncture is an adjunct therapy which is clinically effective, cost-efficient, drug-free and compatible cross-culturally. The combined application of acupuncture with counseling, education, medical support and self-help groups enhances opportunities for success. Most people experience ear acupuncture as a restorative rest/nap. .
