“Coyote and the Boy Ben,” A Marionette Show
LA Arts is pleased to host a presentation of “Coyote and the Boy Ben,” a marionette show, in conjunction with its current exhibit “Coyote for All Seasons” on May 27, from 1:00 – 4:00pm. This family-friendly event, followed by children’s activities, is free and open to the public. This enchanting form of theater depicts the story about a Mother Coyote searching for her little pup who has run off to play with a butterfly, and a boy named Ben who found himself in the forest after joyfully following a bunny. We invite you to come and experience these characters’ touching and unforgettable time together. The story, an interpretation of a Native Peoples’ tale by Carnivore Conservation Biologist Geri Vistein, has delighted audiences in different venues across Maine. The puppet performance is arranged by Eileen Gatewood and features marionettes and a stage created by artist Melissa Glendinning. The original music is composed by Elizabeth Starr and performed by Maine’s Song Dog Puppeteers. While at LA Arts, visitors are encouraged to view the current “Coyote for All Seasons” exhibit featuring 15 artists who depict the endearing lives of coyotes through watercolors, acrylic, colored pencils, and more.
