Auditions for "American Dreams: Immigrant Stories"
Auditions Mon, May 21 and Tues May 22 at 6:30pm, at First Universalist Auburn, 169 Pleasant St. The play is written and directed by Linda Britt, and co-produced by Community Little Theatre and UU Theater. Britt explores the immigration experience through characters from Africa, Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe, and Asia. It will be presented as a staged reading at CLT on June 29 and 30. Britt is seeking actors for 26 monologues, with an interest in diversity of all kinds (race, gender, age, etc.). There are more roles for younger actors (teens-20s), but character ages range from 17 to 65. Auditions will consist of a “cold reading;” material will be provided. No memorization or stage experience is required, although it is encouraged. The director will work individually with actors as their schedules permit. One required dress rehearsal will be held on June 28. Linda Britt is an award-winning director and playwright. Her plays have been produced from Maine to California, and three (Chosen, Mirrors and Memories, and Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington) have recently been published. n in the same category.
